REI fellows will participate in the Clinical Scientist Training Program (CSTP) at one of several possible levels. The option of pursuing a Master of Science and Clinical Investigation (two years) or a Master of Public Health (two years) during the fellowship is available. If interested, please inquire about the additional time commitment (six months) and applicable fees. All fellows will be required, at a minimum, to complete the CAQ.

To attain the CTR-CAQ certification, all fellows must complete and pass a total of four required, graded graduate level courses listed in the Baylor Graduate School Course Catalog including:

  1. Fundamentals of Clinical Investigation (3 credit hours, August, Monday-Thursday, 5:30-7:30 p.m.) during Year One of the fellowship.
  2. Clinical Investigation for Career Scientist and Research Seminar (5 credit hours, August-May, Monday, Wednesday, 4-6 p.m.) during Year Two of fellowship.
  3. Cell Biology Reproductive Physiology (3 credit hours, October-December, 4 hours/week) during Year Two of the fellowship, a research year.
  4. Translational Biostatistics (3 credit hours, 3 hours/week, August-May) during Year Two of the fellowship, a research year.

Course number 2 will assist the fellow in development of a research thesis, selection of an appropriate research/career mentor, and selection of a thesis review committee. This will culminate in the writing and submitting of a K23 grant, a mentored career development award that will outline the fellow’s research project. The third year of the fellowship will be dedicated to completion of research and relevant elective course work, particularly if the fellow has chosen the option of attaining a Master’s degree, writing and submitting of a K23 grant, a mentored career development award that will outline the fellow’s research project.

The third year of the fellowship will be dedicated to completion of research and relevant elective course work, particularly if the fellow has chosen the option of attaining a Master’s degree.

In general, space allocated to the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility is integrated within the main research facilities of the Department for optimal research administration and resource sharing.

The IVF, Hormone Assay and Andrology Laboratory on the campus of the Woman's Hospital provides a site for training fellows in IVF and hormone assays.
