We recruit two or three residents each year to join our categorical genetics training program. Residents are required to complete two years of training in genetics to be eligible for ABMGG certification in clinical genetics. Within the two-year training period, it is expected that six months of research work will be completed. On a case-by-case basis, a third year in the program is recommended for further research work.
During the 18 months of clinical rotations, time is divided between rotations on the inpatient consultation service, outpatient general adult and pediatric clinics, subspecialty clinics, and the diagnostic laboratory as well as attending conferences and didactic teaching sessions.
