BLS & ACLS Certification


Training Availability Update


To comply with the recommended social distancing guidelines related to COVID 19, we are offering ACLS/BLS recertification lectures via Zoom with in-person Skills Check until further notice. The Zoom lectures will be held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. and it is mandatory that students participate for the duration of the presentations. 

Following participation in one of the Saturday Zoom lectures, the option is available for in-person Skills Check on Saturdays at 2 p.m. or 3:30 p.m. and Tuesdays at 6 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.

Upon receipt of your completed registration and payment, you will be provided with a link to schedule an appointment for your Skills Check. For clarity, when registering, please select ACLS Recertification ($135), BLS Recertification ($60) or combined ACLS/BLS Recertification ($175).

Please note that appointments are offered on a first come, first serve basis and should be scheduled for a time following your mandatory participation in a Saturday Zoom lecture. Please contact Helen Dailey at with any schedule related questions.


Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support Training


The BLS and ACLS program provides initial certification and recertification classes in both American Heart Association Basic and Advanced Life Support. We also offer several course options including in-person courses, and skills verification to complete the online courses available directly through the AHA online training website.

We offer semi-monthly ACLS and combined ACLS-BLS re-certification in-person courses. Skills verification can be completed during any of our re-certification courses. Initial certification is currently offered once a year during the spring. We are also able to offer courses for small and large groups as needed.

Frequently Asked Questions for ACLS/BLS


Q: I signed up for the ACLS/BLS recertification or initial certification class, how long does the class last?
A: The recertification class last fours and the initial certification class is a two day class that is eight hours on the first day and four hours on the second day.

Q: Where is the class held?
A: The class is held at One Baylor Plaza in either Room M423 or M421

Q: Are the ACLS/BLS classes offered on weekends only?
A: Yes, we only offer classes on the weekends.

Q: Can I take the AHA online course and attend the ACLS-BLS class offered at Baylor for recertification?
A: Yes, we do offer the skills testing for ACLS and BLS for an additional fee listed in the fee schedule (to the left.) Skills testing is in person and generally lasts 30-40 minutes.

Q: My ACLS/BLS certification card is expired, can I still take the recertification class?
A: Yes, if your certification expired within one year of signing up for the class, we will allow you to take the recertification class.

Q: Do you offer PALS or ATLS?
A: We currently do not offer certification or recertification in PALS or ATLS.
