Pediatric Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program

The Pediatric Infectious Diseases fellowship program at Baylor College of Medicine is one component of the largest pediatric departments in the United States. The Texas Medical Center provides an exciting, diverse and very stimulating learning environment for our post-graduate fellows in training.

The fellowship program is a three-year training program designed to prepare pediatricians for a career in pediatric infectious diseases. The first year of fellowship is primarily dedicated to clinical training at Texas Children’s Hospital. Years two and three of the fellowship program are dedicated to receiving basic, translational or clinical mentored research training. In addition to the clinical and research training, the Baylor pediatric infectious diseases fellows complete rotations in clinical microbiology/virology laboratory, retrovirology clinic, tropical medicine clinic, tuberculosis clinic, transplant infectious diseases clinic, and with the infection control and antimicrobial stewardship teams.

Admissions Information

Admission requirements include completion of Pediatric Residency Program in an ACGME-accredited program (or the equivalent) and GME documentation for an “Initial Physician In-Training” permit with the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.

Applications are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).

All ERAS applications are reviewed by the program director, associate program directors, and division head. Based on the initial review, it is determined which applicants are invited for an interview. Applications must be complete and the applicant must provide three letters of recommendation to schedule an interview. The interviews are scheduled with the program director, associate program directors, division head, and at least four faculty members.
