The North East Adolescent Project (NEAP)
The North East Adolescent Project (NEAP) is a pivotal initiative aimed at enhancing the well-being of adolescents in Houston, particularly in some of the city's most underserved areas. Founded in 1989 through a collaboration with Harris County Commissioner El Franco Lee, NEAP is an integral part of the Teen Health Clinic. This project uses the expertise of medically licensed master-level social workers to deliver essential educational and mental health outreach services.
NEAP was established with clear goals in mind:
- Reduce Teen Pregnancy: By educating adolescents on the importance of safe practices and providing resources to prevent pregnancy, NEAP aims to lower teen pregnancy rates.
