Fundraising
Corporate donations, individual gifts and bequests, grants by both private foundations and government entities enable the center to improve the quality of life for older people through research, education, training, and clinical care. All contributions, small or large, are most welcome. We have also raised an additional $1.5 million for a $2 million endowed chair named after HCOA founding director Robert J. Luchi, M.D. The first holder of this endowed chair is George E. Taffet, M.D., Chief of the Section of Geriatrics. The purpose is to have the very best academic geriatrician at HCOA to continue the reputation of excellence in patient care established by Dr. Luchi. And just recently the Huffington Foundation added another $2 million chair for the directorship of the HCOA. The first holder of this distinguished position is Hui Zheng, Ph.D.

Educational, Research Opportunities
The center offers courses and seminars in the basic and clinical sciences for clinical practitioners, students, trainees, faculty, staff and health professionals, as well as continuing medical education. HCOA sponsors courses for medical students, geriatric medicine clinical rotations for medical residents, and an accredited Geriatric Fellowship Training Program. Research training opportunities include the Cell & Molecular Biology of Aging Research Training Program for pre-doctoral and postdoctoral students.
