High levels of screen media use and TV viewing have been linked to child obesity. Current methods to measure children’s screen use are limited by the ability to accurately assess children’s exposure to screen media. Most studies typically rely on self or parent reports which are shown to be error-prone. Using the recent advances in computer vision and machine learning, our technology, FLASH, offers a way to objectively measure kids' screen use across various devices. FLASH or Family Level Assessment of Screen use in the Home, uses an embedded computing platform that processes video feed from a camera on stationary screens (FLASH-TV); or functions as a background app tracking the screen-time on mobile devices (FLASH-Mobile). Learn more.
