Bioethics Summer Internship
Summary
Are you interested in the ethical and policy challenges posed by neuroscience?
Join us at the Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy for a virtual (in-person opportunities for Houston participants) summer research internship funded by the Dana Foundation that advances research at the intersection of neuroscience, ethics and society. Participants in the BCM-Dana Foundation Neuroscience and Society internship will contribute to projects that explore critical issues such as the ethical, legal and social implications of emerging neurotechnologies, therapies and treatments.
Job Purpose
Our Neuroethics and Society Summer Internship Programs has four main components:
- A research experience with Center faculty and interdisciplinary research teams related to a topic in neuroscience, ethics, and society.
- An education experience with Center faculty and staff through a virtual lunch-and-learn and interdisciplinary professional development series.
- A community experience through the Center’s intellectual and social activities.
- An opportunity to virtually present your summer research to the broader Center for Medical Ethics and Health Policy community.
Eligibility
Students enrolled in a undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree-granting program for Fall 2026.
The internship will be held in June - August 2026. Internships can be remote or in person.
This is a paid internship with a commitment of ~ 20 hours per week.
Hours are flexible but interns are expected to attend the virtual lunch-and-learn series and programmatic events.
Research experiences will not include laboratory or work in the healthcare setting.
Applications are due by 11:59 p.m. CT on Feb. 13, 2026. Interviews will occur in March 2026. All applicants will receive notification of their application in early April 2026.

Clinical Ethics Internship
This program is designed to provide students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced field of clinical ethics. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to:
- Spend up to 8-weeks (May – July 2026) working with an experienced clinical faculty mentor
- Shadow clinical ethics consultants at our hospital-based clinical ethics services
- Participate in research and writing that supports the clinical ethics mission
- Gain exposure to one of the preeminent bioethics centers in the country
The Clinical Ethics Internship is a paid, in-person, hospital-based opportunity in the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas.
