Penile curvature secondary to scar or plaque formation along the shaft of the penis is known as Peyronie’s Disease. Significant penile curvatures can result in pain, poor erections, and an inability to engage in sexual intercourse.
Traditionally, treatments for this problem have been limited and often unsuccessful. New medical therapies that prevent scar formation and promote scar breakdown can be effective in up to 70 percent of patients. Some men may require penile injections with medication to reduce the plaque size and prevent plaque progression. Surgical correction and penile straightening procedures are available to men who do not respond to more conservative medical treatments.
The advent of drugs that enhance erectile function has also brought increased numbers of patients to physicians for treatment of Peyronie's disease, a condition that causes curvature of the penis and painful erections.

Symptoms are penile angulation and pain.
Diagnosis
Diagnosis may be made at physical examination if palpable plaques are found along the penile shaft.
Treatment
Treatment may be medical or surgical. The vast majority of patients with Peyronie's disease do not require surgery.
