Support Groups

The Parkinson’s Disease Center and Movement Disorders Clinic (PDCMDC) is pleased to announce the addition of a support group for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease within the Hispanic community in Houston and throughout the state. The goal of the group is to provide education, relevant information and a space to share ideas, build friendships and feel supported. Each session will be held in Spanish and will feature a topic related to Parkinson’s with a short presentation, followed by questions and answers, and will end with discussion and personal anecdotes. Participation by caregivers and involved family members is encouraged. The group is ongoing and those interested can join at any time. While sessions will be held once a month via Zoom at this time, they will transition to in-person once it is safe to do so. For those outside of Houston, the Zoom format will continue.

Nos da mucha alregría en el Parkinson’s Disease Center and Movement Disorders Clinic (PDCMDC) anunciar el nuevo grupo de apoyo para la comunidad Hispana en Houston y el estado de Texas con la enfermedad de Parkinson. La meta del grupo es proveer educación, la información relevante y un espacio para compartir ideas, hacer amistades, y sentir apoyado. Cada sesión tendrá un tema relacionado al Parkinson, en español, con una presentación, con preguntas y respuestas, y terminará con una discusión y anécdotas personales. Se anima la participación de cuidadores y miembros de la familia. El grupo estará en curso y se puede unirse al grupo en cualquier momento. Las sesiones tendrán lugar una vez al mes en Zoom hasta que sea posible hacerlas en persona. Para los que viven fuera de Houston, las sesiones seguirán en Zoom.
