I chose a BCM/TCH fellowship because: the people in the department made me feel like I was at home. I also knew I would see an interesting variety of cases and receive unparalleled training to best prepare me to be the most competent pediatric rheumatologist I can be.

Academic Interests: clinical research in lupus and juvenile dermatomyositis, as well as public health in rheumatology.
Favorite Houston spot or thing to do: take my dog, June, and my 1-year-old son on walks in Buffalo Bayou and Memorial Park, or sit on a patio somewhere to watch a sports game with my husband.

I chose a BCM/TCH fellowship because: as a resident, I witnessed the wide spectrum of rheumatologic diseases managed here and wanted to continue my training at a place that would provide the clinical experience necessary to prepare me well. I truly enjoy learning from attendings who are passionate about rheumatology, bring a diverse range of experiences, and foster a collaborative and supportive learning environment.

Academic Interests: Right now I am interested in everything and am working on narrowing it down! I really enjoyed recently working on a study about cardiac imaging in patients with Lupus and Scleroderma spectrum disorders.

Favorite Houston spot or thing to do: Moving to Houston from an Island, I really enjoy walking around Bayou Park and going to "Common Bond" for its pastries.

I chose a BCM/TCH fellowship because: of the incredible clinical exposure at a large, high-volume hospital, the warm and welcoming people I met on interview day, and the opportunity to live in a vibrant city like Houston.

Favorite Houston spot or thing to do: There is so much good food and plenty of fun things to do in Houston! It's hard to pick just one. My husband and I love going to Loro, a restaurant that merges Asian cuisine and Texas barbecue. We usually follow that up with a long walk in Hermann Park (and visit the spot where we got engaged)! I also cannot leave out the Houston Ballet. They put on exceptional performances with breathtaking set and costume design!

I chose a BCM/TCH fellowship because: it was the perfect combination of a rigorous training program WITH the most supportive group of fellows, attendings, and other staff members. I have absolutely no regrets about choosing BCM/TCH and would recommend it to anyone!

Favorite Houston spot or thing to do: My favorite thing to do in Houston is explore a new spot in Houston's Chinatown for yummy food or fun shops. There is always something new to try! I also enjoy relaxing at home with my husband and dogs.

I chose a BCM/TCH fellowship because: I wanted to take care of a primarily Spanish population, I wanted to get a wide range of cases including bread and butter and zebras, and because the faculty were the kindest attendings I had worked with in residency.

Academic Interests: I am interested in health literacy and the way it affects outcomes in patients with rheumatologic conditions. I am also interested in cultural competence and finding ways to increase cultural competence to improve the care of underrepresented minorities. From a disease standpoint, I am interested in both idiopathic recurrent parotitis and parotitis associated with autoimmune conditions like Sjogren's and IgG4 disease.
Favorite Houston spot or thing to do: My favorite spot in Houston is the arboretum. It has short hikes that you can do with your kids and it is covered in large trees with beautiful foliage. It is perfect for walks even when it gets hot.
