The Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition is internationally known for the highest quality of clinical care, education and research in the full range of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, nutrition and pancreatology.

Our faculty of over 40 talented clinicians provide care to children in the Houston metropolitan area (pop. 7,000,000) and we receive referrals from all of Texas, nationally and worldwide. This provides a uniquely broad clinical experience that has been leveraged for world-class educational and academic opportunities.

Our fellowship training programs offer tremendous opportunities for clinical experiences, clinical, translational and basic investigations and scholarly endeavors in quality improvement and education. Teaching and investigation are key components of our program as we provide outstanding and compassionate patient care through evidence-based and expert practice achieved through research and education.

There has been exciting growth in the programs at Texas Children’s Hospital and in our Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. Our basic research laboratories were completely renovated in 2017 and have been fully equipped with state-of-the-art molecular instrumentation. Clinical research is extremely strong in the division with a dedicated clinical research coordinator team and over 200 IRB approved clinical research protocols. Juxtaposition of our clinical and basic research teams provides an outstanding environment for translational studies. Our teams are actively involved in a number of NIH-funded clinical consortia. We will continue to push the boundaries of our knowledge, our research endeavors and our clinical practice.
