About Us

An academic and research component of Baylor College of Medicine, the Department of Molecular Physiology and Biophysics is an interactive department emphasizing the development and application of cutting-edge technologies to study human disease and improve human health.

The department’s mission is to create an outstanding research and educational environment to support translational and preclinical research/education and to translate basic science discovery into new therapeutic interventions for human disease. Departmental researchers use systems-wide, integrated physiological, biochemical, biophysical and genetic approaches combined with specifically engineered mouse models and cutting-edge technology to define the mechanisms of human disease.
