The Baylor College of Medicine Geriatrics Fellowship provides state-of-the art training in the heart of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the United States. In addition, it is affiliated with the Huffington Center on Aging, one of the premier aging institutes in the United States with a focus on advancing the quality of late life through exemplary research, education, patient care and community outreach. Through these relationships, fellows are afforded a robust, diverse clinical experience in addition to unparalleled opportunities in education, research, and mentorship.
Fellows rotate at Houston Methodist Hospital, the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center, and Harris Health System. They participate in continuity clinic at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center as well as outpatient rotations at Houston Hospice and with the Trumen Physicians and Associates. Yes, the Baylor Geriatrics Fellowship program is able to support trainees on a J-1 visa with an ECFMG certificate.

Yes, the Baylor College of Medicine Geriatrics Fellowship recognizes the importance of mentorship in fostering careers and has a formal mentorship program. Each fellow is encouraged to identify a faculty mentor within the first six weeks of the program based on their academic interests or other commonalities. If fellows do not identify a mentor, one is assigned by the program. The fellows meet with their mentor at least quarterly to discuss professional and personal growth. Fellows also work with a research or content mentor on their academic project.
Maintaining physical and emotional wellness is a prerequisite to professional success. Our fellows engage in wellness activities (i.e. relaxation techniques, reflection, etc.) through the program and have access to a number of programs to support their well-being through the College.
