The Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine is ACGME-accredited to provide one-year intensive clinical training that meets ABIM requirements for Board Eligibility for certification in Transplant Hepatology.

Our program trains aspiring transplant hepatologists in a multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of all hepatobiliary diseases, as well as, the evaluation, perioperative, waitlist and postoperative management of liver transplant patients.

Our program graduates become the next generation of academicians and clinicians in the discipline of hepatology and liver transplantation to improve the health and well-being of our community and the underserved with chronic liver diseases.

Our mission is to train academic hepatologists.

The adult outpatient clinics are located in the Baylor St. Luke's Center for Liver Disease. The inpatient services for adult patients are located in the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center. Pediatric hepatology and liver transplant services are located in Texas Children’s Hospital.

Our surgical team is responsible for liver transplantation in three centers: Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center, Texas Children’s Hospital, and the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. Pediatric hepatologists are responsible exclusively for medical care at Texas Children’s.

All clinical care provided by Transplant Hepatology fellows is performed under the direct supervision of full-time faculty attendings in hepatology and liver transplantation surgery 365 days per year. Our program emphasizes development of each of the ACGME core competencies.
