Division Overview
The Leopold L. Meyer Center for Developmental Pediatrics and Autism at Texas Children’s Hospital is an expansion of the Child Development Clinic, which opened at Texas Children’s Hospital in 1960 to provide diagnostic and social services for children with intellectual disabilities. Initially funded by the state of Texas, the clinic expanded in 1962 with federal support to serve a broader range of developmental needs. In 1973, the Texas Children’s Board of Trustees voted to rename the Child Development Clinic to honor Leopold L. Meyer, a founding trustee of Texas Children’s Hospital.
Today, the Meyer Center offers comprehensive diagnostic and treatment planning for a wide spectrum of neurodevelopmental and behavioral conditions, including intellectual disabilities, genetic syndromes, cerebral palsy, autism, learning disabilities, ADHD, and more. Additionally, the Meyer Center serves as a developmental education hub for Houston and surrounding areas through the provision of psycho-educational programs for children and families on a variety of topics.
Located at Texas Children’s Hospital North Stadium Drive site, the Meyer Center remains dedicated to high-quality patient care and advancing research and education in neurodevelopmental-behavioral pediatrics.
