Vision Statement
To develop future leaders in hospital based critical care medicine by providing unparalleled training in high-acuity, diverse hospital systems, fostering clinical mastery, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovation.
The Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine provides an exceptional opportunity for high quality training in critical care medicine at a premier research institution within the largest medical center in the world. In 2024 Baylor was ranked 20th among the nation’s medical schools for research funding from the NIH and first within Texas, by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. In 2025 Baylor was recognized by the US News and World Report as earning Tier 1 status, one of only 16 schools in the nation to receive this designation. This opportunity for research combined with our excellent clinical exposure and didactic education program for our fellows sets us apart as a training program. Our fellowship is fully accredited by the ACGME and after successful completion of training will be eligible to sit for Critical Care Boards and prepared to be a future leader in critical care medicine.

As an applicant, you're exploring a pivotal next step in your training, and we're excited that you're considering us. Fellowship is a limited unique time to immerse yourself in the full spectrum of critical care medicine while gaining advanced skills in research, education, leadership, and systems-based practice.

Training Requirements
The American Board of Internal Medicine requires two years of clinical training for subspecialty certification in critical care medicine. Alternatively, those who have certification in another subspecialty (pulmonary or cardiovascular disease) are eligible for ABIM certification in critical care medicine with one year of training.
