Bioinformatics Resources

The following centers offer bioinformatics services and resources. In addition, the DDC hosts bi-monthly informatics user group meeting to promote discussions, knowledge exchange, and shared learning.

Topics will include tools and pipelines, pathway analyses, visualizations in form of plots, graphs, networks, machine learning application and more. The group is spearheaded by Dr. Numan Oezguen. If you would like to join the mailing list, please contact DDC administrator Sara Tristan at escamill@bcm.edu.

Baylor College of Medicine Biostatistics and Informatics

The Analytics group provides biostatistical and bioinformatic assistance to the Duncan Cancer Center investigators and can also collaborate with Baylor College of Medicine investigators. Services span the gamut from basic science through translational to clinical research:

  • Experimental design
  • Assistance with design & conduct of clinical trials
  • Data analysis of clinical and laboratory studies
  • Bioinformatic and integrative analysis of -omic data, using both investigator generated data and publicly available dataStatistical review for PRMS, DRC, etc.

They also provide consultation, project planning, assistance with grant preparation and related services.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Bioinformatics & Computational Biology Department

The mission of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology is to conduct collaborative research with clinical and basic science departments, and to support the need for quantitative sciences in the fields of genomics, proteomics, radiotherapy, molecular and cell biology, computer-assisted diagnoses, and image analysis.

Members of the department develop statistically rigorous solutions for the design and analysis of high-throughput molecular profiling technologies in cancer research, and provide data analysis, acquisition, curation and retrieval tools to complement the related laboratory services operated within the institution.

The focus of research in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology department is microarray data analysis, reverse-phase protein array analysis, biomarker identification, drug target discovery, functional genomics and proteomics, coding sequence analysis, cross-validation analysis, forensic applications of genetics and the analysis of genetic trait inheritance. Other areas of specialization include analyzing the effects of radiotherapy, cell population dynamics, molecular confirmation studies, modeling biological processes, computer-assisted diagnosis, computer-assisted image interpretation, statistical graphics, and the analysis of cell cycle regulatory proteins.

The Bioinformatics Core Laboratory at Texas Children’s Hospital

The Bioinformatics Core Laboratory provides computational expertise and resources for the design and analyses of high-throughput assays and for comparisons and integration of Texas Children's Hospital data with data derived from external knowledge bases. The Bioinformatics Core Laboratory will provide state-of-the-art, secure, regulatory-compliant and customized solutions to address clinical and research needs at Texas Children's Hospital.
