I am pleased to introduce you to the Division of General Surgery. We provide clinical services in the Texas Medical Center, offer outstanding resident and student educational programs, and conduct cutting-edge research.
At Ben Taub Hospital—a premier municipal facility that is one of the busiest level I trauma centers in Texas—a team of seven faculty surgeons sees nearly 13,000 cases in the emergency trauma center annually.
At the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center (MEDVAMC)—the primary healthcare provider for almost 130,000 veterans in southeast Texas—our highly skilled surgeons have helped raise MEDVAMC to the rank of the most advanced of the VA’s 141 medical facilities in terms of clinical care, research, and trainee education.
At St. Luke’s Medical Center—a large tertiary-care private 700-bed hospital with 34,000 admissions and 10,700 inpatient surgeries per year—our surgeons perform procedures ranging from complex pancreaticobiliary surgery to minimally-invasive robotic-assisted abdominal operations.
As a result of our clinical expertise and innovative research programs, patients receive specialized diagnostic assessment; access to the newest treatment modalities, including clinical trials of new pharmacologic therapies and emerging surgical techniques; and coordinated multidisciplinary care at all of our clinical sites.
This website will introduce you to our faculty members, physicians with outstanding training and expertise. I invite you to read about their specialties and research. If you are interested in arranging a clinical consultation or are considering collaborating professionally with any of our team members, please contact them directly to set an appointment.
