Why Baylor College of Medicine at CHRISTUS Children’s?
During my interview, I was inspired by the camaraderie and friendship shared between the fellows and attendings. As I entered into the next step of my professional journey, I wished to join a family and not just a workplace; this was most evident at CHRISTUS Children’s. The program offers a unique experience of learning through substantial clinical practice during all three years and is the only pediatric advanced endoscopy program in the country. Our attendings have extensive experience in all realms of gastroenterology and hepatology and consistently use their expertise to support and guide my passions.

Why Baylor College of Medicine at CHRISTUS Children’s?
I chose Baylor College of Medicine Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship at CHRISTUS Children’s because of its unique approach to teaching and individualized curriculum. The faculty is approachable and always makes teaching a priority. The curriculum is flexible and can be tailored to the fellow's area of interests. This helps me identifying my professional interests early in my training and seeking out appropriate mentorship for further guidance.

Our first fellow completed her three years of training from our Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship program here at CHRISTUS Children’s - Baylor College of Medicine on June 30, 2020. Dr. Camacho joined The University of Mississippi, Children's Hospital of Mississippi, where she is an assistant Professor of Pediatric Gastroenterology. Her research in "Utility of Rosemont classification in predicting exocrine pancreatic insufficiency in children with chronic pancreatitis" gained an oral presentation at the biggest gastroenterology meeting in the world Digestive Disease Week. She has submitted her research manuscript to the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition. She has also published other projects in peer review journals and has other submissions pending.
