About the Program
Our Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship is a newly established program designed to provide comprehensive, high-quality training in a supportive and academically rigorous environment. While new, the program is built upon strong institutional partnerships, between Baylor College of Medicine and CHRISTUS Children’s, experienced faculty, and a clear commitment to excellence in clinical education, mentorship and scholarly development. Fellows will benefit from individualized training, broad and diverse emergency care exposure, and the unique opportunity to grow alongside the program. Located in South Texas, our fellowship is well positioned to meet the region’s pediatric emergency care needs while preparing fellows for successful careers in academic and clinical pediatric emergency medicine.
Director's Message
Thank you for your interest in the Baylor College of Medicine / CHRISTUS Children’s Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship Program. Our program is dedicated to training the next generation of leaders in Pediatric Emergency Medicine through rigorous clinical education, robust scholarly activity and a strong commitment to patient-centered care.
Although newly established, our fellowship is built upon the depth, expertise and academic excellence of Baylor College of Medicine. Fellows receive comprehensive training in the evaluation and management of critically ill and injured children, with broad exposure to acute and chronic medical conditions and traumatic injuries across the full pediatric continuum - from neonates and infants to adolescents. Clinical training occurs in a high-acuity, diverse patient care environment designed to foster progressive autonomy, clinical excellence and confidence.
In addition to outstanding clinical training, fellows engage in a wide array of scholarly and academic pursuits, including quality improvement, clinical and outcomes-based research, medical education and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). Individualized mentorship supports each fellow’s academic interests and career goals, preparing graduates for successful careers in academic medicine, clinical leadership and advocacy.
Central to our mission is an unwavering commitment to providing high-quality, equitable, and compassionate care to every child and family we serve. This commitment reflects the shared values of Baylor College of Medicine and CHRISTUS Children’s and is integrated throughout every aspect of our fellowship training.
We are incredibly proud of our new program and the meaningful impact our fellows will make in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. We look forward to welcoming our incoming fellows and invite you to contact us with any questions about the program.
Kellie Nicole Williams, M.D.
