About the Core

Content

The Bioengineering Core offers cutting-edge biomedical research and health care by designing and fabricating custom scientific instruments and medical devices for investigators and physicians.

The Bioengineering Core has an engineer and a machinist on staff with many years of experience who are able to address a broad range of engineering and fabrication challenges.

In addition, the Bioengineering Core has at its disposition a range of advanced machinery and instruments, including a computer-controlled 5-axis mill and lathe, as well as a 3D printer and laser cutter. Past projects range from high-precision engineering and fabrication of mechanical parts to advanced electronics and optical instruments.

We provide one-stop options for design, equipment, supplies, and manufacture to handle all research or clinical instrumentation needs.

The BioEngineering Core joins more than two dozen Advanced Technology Core Laboratories support research of faculty at Baylor and the Texas Medical Center on a fee-for-service basis.
