- Only two weeks after its publication, our article “Targeting KCa1.1 channels with a scorpion venom peptide for the therapy of rat models of rheumatoid arthritis” in The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics is already in the top 5 percent of all research outputs scored by Altmetric.

July
- Members of the Beeton Lab had lunch at Third Coast prior to Clarissa Palacios’ departure for The University of Texas in El Paso.
- Our work on targeting KCa1.1 (BK) channels for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis was highlighted in the blog of the Arthritis Foundation (http://blog.arthritis.org/news/arthritis-research-christine-beeton).
- The team at Kineta published the results from the phase 1b clinical trial of dalazatide (formerly ShK-186) in patients with psoriasis: Safety and pharmacodynamics of dalazatide, a Kv1.3 channel inhibitor, in the treatment of plaque psoriasis: A randomized phase 1b trial. ShK-186 was developed through NIH- and foundation-funded research by Drs. Beeton, Chandy, and Pennington and their collaborators worldwide. Dalazatide is the first specific Kv1.3 blocker to advance into clinic.
