Professional Statement

My research goals and interests lie at the intersection between the study of the molecular mechanisms driving neuroblastoma oncogenesis, tumor metabolism, and translational oncology. Amplification of the MYCN oncogene is the most common genetic aberration in high-risk neuroblastoma and is associated with poor prognosis and chemoresistance. The long-term goal of my laboratory is to elucidate the MYCN-dependent pathways that serve as targets for neuroblastoma treatment. Toward this goal, my focus is to understand how MYCN drives undifferentiated, chemorefractory, and metabolically distinct tumors and develop novel approaches to intervention for high-risk MYCN-amplified disease.
