Professional Statement

The goal of my research is to study the basic mechanisms of seizure generation by investigating the role of genetics in epilepsy and anti-epileptic drug treatments. Specifically, I have been working with the Stargazer mouse model of epilepsy to understand how its mutation ultimately leads to frequent seizures. Ultimately, I plan to apply the knowledge gained in the laboratory to identify how best to approach the treatment of patients with epilepsy.
