Professional Statement
My academic training and research experience have provided me with knowledge and experience from multiple disciplines, including human and molecular genetics, computational biology, and zebrafish models. Whenever possible, I seek technical knowledge on the research areas and solve/optimize the pipelines that help in analyzing the cancer sample of interest. During my Ph.D. tenure, I have explored the differentially expressed genes, dysregulated signaling cascades, biological protein networks, and biomarker identification from various cancer types, and genetic diseases. I have hands-on experience with R programming, bioinformatics tools, basics of Python, molecular techniques, Next Generation Sequencing, single-cell ATAC, single-nuclei and single-cell RNA-Seq analyses. I also created NGS pipelines to analyze the transcriptomics and whole-exome sequencing from cancer patient samples. I applied these computational and wet lab skills for the identification of targeted therapy and molecular biomarkers from ovarian cancer, multiple myeloma, familial hypercholesterolemia, lung adenocarcinoma, Osteosarcoma, and colorectal cancer. My involvement could also be seen from 66 research publications in international peer-reviewed journals and my works have been cited by several researches, indicating the significance of my research (Citations: 1148; h-index: 18; i10-index: 33; Cumulative Impact Factor: 370.80).
Besides, I have worked on colorectal, pancreatic, and lung cancers for the identification of cancer-specific biomarkers and mutations in collaboration with Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMC), Vellore, India, and Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER), Chennai, India. I was always curious about the correlation and connections in multi-omics and functional genomic studies performed on model organisms, cell lines, and the prospect they held for opening new avenues for the betterment of congenital disorders and cancer treatment.
