After living in Hobe Sound, Florida for 18 years, I took a leap of faith to study in snowy South Bend, Indiana for four years at the University of Notre Dame through the QuestBridge Scholars program. I graduated in 2026 with my Bachelor of Science in Science Preprofessional Studies and Spanish. Intent on combining my two academic fortes, I studied in Puebla, Mexico during my Fall semester of junior year, an experience that introduced me to the internal workings of a medical system elsewhere in the world. Back in the United States, I would go on to shadow genetic counselors in each specialty, an informative yet brief period that solidified my dedication to the profession.

Aside from the plain medical field, I have worked as a camp counselor at We Rock the Spectrum Children’s Gym (both back home in Jupiter, Florida and here in Bellaire, Texas) for three summers and now during the school year. Primarily focused on providing an inclusive play experience for children with special needs, I enjoy my time interacting with these little customers who may later mirror the very same children I see as a professional. My senior year also saw me engaging in work as a Senior Fellow for Notre Dame’s Family Resource Center, helping support the university’s students in all stages of their calls to parenthood. I practiced counseling more directly by serving as a bilingual crisis counselor for Crisis Text Line that same year, skills that I look forward to developing formally as a first year in Baylor’s Genetic Counseling Program.
