Professional Statement

Dr. Justin Lee is a board-certified neurosurgeon-scientist specializing in the evaluation and treatment of complex spinal disorders. He completed his medical and doctoral degrees through the Medical Scientist Training Program at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, where he was awarded the NIH-funded Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award. He then completed neurosurgical residency at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). During residency, he received an NIH/NINDS R25 award and conducted research as a visiting scientist in the Center for Gene Therapy at City of Hope National Medical Center. Dr. Lee also received advanced training in minimally invasive and complex spine surgery through the enfolded AO Spine fellowship at USC. His current research focuses on the development of cell- and gene-based therapies for spinal cord injury and other neurological disorders.

Treatment Philosophy:
Dr. Lee strives to use advanced neurosurgical techniques, including the least invasive approach appropriate, to optimize long-term patient outcomes. He believes in empowering patients with the knowledge needed to understand their diagnosis and treatment options, allowing each care plan to be individualized and patient-centered. His goal is to provide every patient with the same level of care he would want for a family member or close friend.
