Professional Statement

Dr. Badal was born and raised in San Jose, California where he grew up in the Silicon Valley exposed to cutting edge technology at an early age. He originally had an interest in pursuing a career in computer science and electrical engineering and even worked at Intel Corporation during high school, but his mentor at Intel convinced him to pursue healthcare as a career.

Dr. Badal attended the University of California, Davis in Davis, CA where he earned a degree in Cellular Biology, graduating cum laude in 2010. Here he had early exposure to research science and developed his molecular biology research skills.

Dr. Badal then attended Baylor College of Medicine where he earned his medical degree in 2015. As a student, Dr. Badal worked closely with the medical school's leadership and was President of the Medical Student Council and the director for the medical school's student mentorship network. Dr. Badal also volunteered time at HOMES - a healthcare clinic for the homeless located in downtown Houston all through his medical education. He was awarded the Lehmann Outstanding Medical Student Award in 2015 for his leadership contributions to the Medical School.

Dr. Badal then attended residency at the University of California, Davis where he completed a two-year residency in General Surgery followed by four years in Urologic Surgery. Dr. Badal developed a passion for minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery while in residency.

After residency, Dr. Badal completed his fellowship at the City of Hope National Cancer Center located outside Los Angeles, CA in 2021. Here he had the unique opportunity to work closely with patient's who were either dealing with newly diagnosed cancer or were battling their second or third or sometimes fifth recurrence of disease. Under the tutelage of his mentors at City of Hope, Dr. Badal was exposed to the highest level of surgical training and further honed his skills as a robotic surgeon.

Dr. Badal is fortunate to have trained with leaders in the field of urology and has a passion for integrating emerging technologies and providing the highest level of care for patients. Dr. Badal is also interested in cognitive behavioral education and how to amplify compassionate, empathetic approaches in medical education.

When not working, Dr. Badal spends time with his wife, three daughters, and two cats. Dr. Badal is proud to be a father to three beautiful and intelligent young girls and enjoys participating in creative activities with them and his wife.
