Professional Statement

I grew up in Cary, Illinois, a small suburb of Chicago. I attended Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, with a minor in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. During my time as an undergraduate student, I was an NCAA Division I Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Athlete, Go Knights!
After graduation, I worked as a registered behavior technician (RBT). As an RBT I was able to work 1-on-1 with children aged 2-14 years old with autism spectrum disorder and/or developmental delays. I was able to see first-hand the challenges children with disabilities face, and how important the smallest successes are in their lives. I also had the opportunity to work as a cancer genetic counseling assistant at Norton Cancer Institute. This helped me understand the dynamics of a genetic counseling clinic and the role genetic counselors play in multidisciplinary teams. The ease and grace in which the genetic counselors would handle complex cases helped to solidify my passion for genetic counseling.
I am beyond excited to be a part of Baylor College of Medicine’s class of 2028. With BCM’s incredible reputation and diversity in clinical opportunities, I know I will receive the most comprehensive training to prepare me for my future career. I am grateful for how welcoming everyone within the program is, faculty, staff, supervisors and classmates, and love how supportive this program is!
