Professional Statement

Irene Tung, MD, is a native Houstonian and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rice University as a Rice Baylor Scholar. She received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine. She completed an internship in pediatrics at Texas Children’s Hospital and an ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center Havener Eye Institute in Columbus, OH. She then went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus at the Duke Eye Center in Durham, NC.

Areas of clinical interest for Dr Tung include all forms of pediatric and adult strabismus (misaligned eyes), amblyopia (lazy eye), uveitis, tear duct obstruction and cataracts. In addition, she provides medical and surgical care for all childhood eye diseases as well as adults with strabismus.
