Professional Statement
I was born and raised in San Antonio, TX, and graduated from Baylor University in May 2024 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. During my time at Baylor, I worked as a Learning Assistant for Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics where I developed a love for teaching and deepened my passion for molecular biology. This solidified my desire to pursue genetic counseling because it would allow me to continuously learn, teach, and help others through some of the most difficult times in their lives.
After graduation, I had the privilege of working as a Genetic Counseling Assistant at UT Southwestern in Dallas, TX. As a GCA, I was able to gain experience in interacting with patients, taking family histories, reading laboratory reports, understanding clinic flow, and so much more! I was also able to serve on the CDH1 and Inpatient Working Groups which taught me about research, patient tracking, and interdisciplinary collaborations. At UT Southwestern, I was surrounded by a team of genetic counselors that taught, encouraged, and inspired me, which is an experience I will forever be grateful for.
I am beyond honored to be a part of Baylor College of Medicine’s Genetic Counseling Program class of 2027. I am excited to learn from the amazing faculty and gain experience in the diverse clinics and specialties. I would love to connect with any prospective students who may have questions about genetic counseling or the application process!
