Professional Statement

I am a PhD trained scientist, who currently supports research that uses tools from human genetics/genomics and mouse models to further our understanding of the biology of pediatric brain tumors—medulloblastoma and ependymoma. I have knowledge of techniques from multiple disciplines including cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and cancer biology, which allow a better understanding of biological mechanisms and health issues. I also have extensive experience in writing and editing successful grant and fellowship/scholarship applications, scientific manuscripts, book chapters, editorials, and progress reports. I aim to use my scientific knowledge, writing skills and business expertise to foster the development and effectiveness of an academic environment, while promoting and maintaining all group members. As someone who is comfortable in both administration and at the bench, I have a great deal to offer toward the development of translational research for brain tumors. My overarching goal is to help support the research aimed at generating novel therapies to effectively treat patients suffering from devastating malignancies.
