Professional Statement

I was born and raised in Northern California, where I developed an interest in genetics from a young age. I am captivated by the extraordinary intricacy of biology and by the opportunity to uncover the delicate mechanisms that allow life to function.

I graduated from the University of California, Davis, with a Bachelor of Science in Genetics and Genomics in 2026. During my time there, I became a genetic counseling student assistant at the UC Davis MIND Institute, where I supported an exceptional team of genetic counselors. In the metabolic clinic, I observed genetic counselors support families, helping to develop personalized care routines for their child’s needs. Through this I came to understand the meaningful role that genetic counselors can play in helping patients feel empowered in their healthcare.

Additionally, my earlier experience volunteering as a patient companion for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease gave me an appreciation for the importance of compassion and presence in patient care. Together, these experiences guided me to pursue genetic counseling.

I am honored to now be a student in Baylor College of Medicine’s Genetic Counseling Program. As I embark on this training journey, I hope to advance my knowledge of human genetics while developing clinical and interpersonal skills to support future patients through navigating complex and unfamiliar diagnoses.
