The Dan L Duncan Comprehensive Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine is a consortium made up of Baylor College of Medicine and its three primary teaching hospital affiliates - Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, Harris Heath Systems/Ben Taub Hospital, Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Texas Children's Hospital.

The Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor brings together all of the cancer-related activities from across these institutions under one umbrella, fast-tracking our efforts to prevent and ultimately cure cancer in all its forms.

Our goal is to provide exceptional patient care, outstanding education for students, and innovative research into the causes, prevention and treatment of cancer, and community outreach and education, especially to the underserved.

The Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor is a National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center. This is a significant designation that places the Duncan Cancer Center among the best in the nation and provides critical program funding to combat cancer. NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers play an important role in their communities and regions and serve to influence standards of cancer prevention and treatment.

Most importantly, all NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers make significant contributions to advances in cancer research that are integral to understanding, preventing, treating this disease. Currently, the Duncan Cancer Center is one of three such centers in the state of Texas.

With the largest clinical genetics program housed at Baylor Clinic, our vision for a future of personalized medicine is quickly becoming a reality. As an academic-based center, the Duncan Cancer Center at Baylor College of Medicine offers cutting-edge, research-based treatment options such as using patients' own genetic makeup to identify their potential for cancer, prevent its onset, more effectively diagnose and treat the disease when it does occur, and one day, provide a cure.
