Held every other Tuesday from noon - 1 p.m. on Microsoft Teams, the series explores the evolving role of artificial intelligence across education, clinical practice, research, ethics, and scholarship.

Session 2 - AI in Clinical Care

Artificial intelligence is rapidly moving from experimentation to everyday clinical use. In this panel discussion, Drs. Ash Goel, Peter McCaffrey and Jae Won Joh will explore how AI is being deployed across clinical services to improve efficiency, expand access, and enhance quality while preserving clinician judgment and patient trust. Drawing on frontline clinical and health-system technology leadership perspectives, the panel will address real-world operational, regulatory, and ethical considerations, and share practical frameworks for evaluating, piloting, and scaling AI-enabled solutions within provider organizations.

Artificial intelligence is transforming medical research- accelerating drug discovery, improving diagnostic accuracy, and enabling more personalized treatment strategies. Collaboration between clinicians and researchers is essential in order to responsibly incorporate AI into the research driving healthcare innovation. In this session, Dr. Caroline Chung will discuss her experience with leading the integration of AI into research at MD Anderson Cancer Center. In addition, Dr. Jessica Davilla will share BCM resources available to support faculty and trainees utilizing AI in their research.
