The AI in Healthcare Seminar Series is a virtual, community‑wide learning experience open to all members of the Texas Medical Center community. Held every other Tuesday from noon - 1 p.m. on Microsoft Teams, the series explores the evolving role of artificial intelligence across education, clinical practice, research, ethics, and scholarship.

Advance registration is required due to limited spots and will ensure the session links are automatically added to your calendar. Participants who attend all six sessions will be eligible to receive a certificate of completion, recognizing their engagement and commitment to advancing AI in healthcare. Session 1 - State of AI in 2026

As artificial intelligence accelerates across clinical practice, health professionals need a clear understanding of its capabilities, limitations, and real‑world impact. In this opening session, Dr. Adam Rodman will provide a grounded overview of the current state of AI in healthcare—highlighting key technologies, emerging use cases, and practical considerations for clinicians. Participants will gain a foundational framework to navigate AI tools responsibly and effectively as they engage with the rest of the series.

Session 2 - AI in Clinical Care

Artificial intelligence is rapidly moving from experimentation to everyday clinical use. In this panel discussion, Drs. Ash Goel, Peter McCaffrey and Jae Won Joh will explore how AI is being deployed across clinical services to improve efficiency, expand access, and enhance quality while preserving clinician judgment and patient trust. Drawing on frontline clinical and health-system technology leadership perspectives, the panel will address real-world operational, regulatory, and ethical considerations, and share practical frameworks for evaluating, piloting, and scaling AI-enabled solutions within provider organizations.

Session 3 - AI in Research

Speaker: Dr. Jessica Davila

Artificial intelligence is transforming medical research- accelerating drug discovery, improving diagnostic accuracy, and enabling more personalized treatment strategies. Collaboration between clinicians and researchers is essential in order to responsibly incorporate AI into the research driving healthcare innovation. In this session, Dr. Caroline Chung will discuss her experience with leading the integration of AI into research at MD Anderson Cancer Center. In addition, Dr. Jessica Davilla will share BCM resources available to support faculty and trainees utilizing AI in their research.
