Professional Statement

Dr. Giardina is a health services researcher and Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine and the Center for Innovations in Quality, Effectiveness and Safety at the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. Dr. Giardina obtained both a Masters and PhD in Social Work from the University of Houston. With extensive experience in designing and conducting qualitative studies, she has been acting as the qualitative methodologist on Dr. Singh’s Patient Safety Center of Inquiry for nine years. Dr. Giardina’s work focus on patients’ experiences of diagnostic error and exploring methods to utilize health IT to improve patient engagement in safety.
