Professional Statement

Over the course of my time at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), I have held multiple positions in medical education including Residency Program Director, Vice Chair of Education, and Vice Chair of Global Health while maintaining a robust practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology. These positions have afforded me the opportunity to work across the full spectrum of medical education both domestically and globally.  As Residency Program Director, I ran the second largest postgraduate training program in Obstetrics and Gynecology in the country. In the global arena, I served as part of an international consortium focused on the development and implementation of the first OBGYN postgraduate training program in Malawi.  Most recently, I have focused on faculty development and advancement at both the Departmental and College levels.  In my previous roles in faculty development, I developed and taught educational programs aimed at enhancing faculty teaching competency while simultaneously leading the BCM Awards programs recognizing faculty for their clinical and educational contributions to the College.  I currently serve as the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development where I work to advance professional academic progression across the faculty life cycle.  While patient care brought me to medicine and remains the foundation of my career in academic medicine, I am equally passionate in educating healthcare providers at all levels and assisting academic faculty in their career progression.
