Dr. Jose I. Suarez, professor of neurology, was recognized for his outstanding work by the Neurocritical Care Society, receiving three honors at the society's recent meeting. He was named the new secretary for the organization after unanimous approval. He also was presented with the Presidential Service Award for his contributions as a member of the board of directors, where he was chair of the research training fellowship task force and co-chair of the research committee. Finally, he also was nominated by leadership as a recipient of the Presidential Citation in recognition of his work to strengthen the neurocritical care community.
Suarez has also served as a member of the board of directors and on the editorial board of Neurocritical Care, the official society journal.
