Jeffrey L. Noebels, MD, PhD, professor of neurology, neuroscience, and molecular and human genetics at Baylor, has been elected president of the American Epilepsy Society for 2003. Noebels is director of the Blue Bird Circle Developmental Neurogenetics Laboratory at The Methodist Hospital.

The American Epilepsy Society is the professional society for physicians and other health professionals who treat or study the biological, clinical and/or psychosocial aspects of epilepsy. Among its 2,200 members are neurologists, neurologic nurses, basic scientists and clinical investigators devoted to improving the quality of life for more than 40 million people around the world with seizure disorders.
