Pediatric Tool Kit Terms of Use

The Texas EMSC State Partnership PPR tool kit is intended to assist EMS agencies and medical directors in the creation or revision of pediatric prehospital protocols. Guidelines, summaries, and recommendations presented here should not be considered inclusive of all proper methods of care or exclusive of other methods of care reasonably directed at obtaining the same results. The ultimate judgment regarding the development of protocols for care of the pediatric patient must be made by the EMS agency medical director and emergency care providers in light of the individual circumstances presented by such factors as agency resources, provider training and experience, scope of practice, availability of online medical control or other field support capabilities, geographical considerations, and local call volumes.

Likewise, when implemented, Evidence-based guidelines, protocols, practice summaries, and/or expert recommendations are not a substitute for appropriate clinical judgment in each clinical scenario and are not intended to be applied uniformly to all patient encounters or situations. Flexibility in specific cases may require deviations from the guideline recommendations with appropriate medical direction and oversight.

Clinical research and practice can quickly change as new evidence is created. Therefore, the Texas EMSC State Partnership will add new resources to the PPR tool kit as they become available and will review and update archived resources at least annually. Stakeholders are invited to provide input by contacting the Texas EMSC office. The EMSC State Partnership will respond individually to all private questions or comments directed to the Texas EMSC Office.

The Texas EMSC State Partnership and Baylor College of Medicine assume no responsibility or liability for any consequence resulting directly or indirectly for any action or inaction you take based on or made in reliance on the information, services, or material in the PPR tool kit. While the Texas EMSC State Partnership makes every reasonable effort to present current and accurate information, no guarantee of any kind is made. Neither the Texas EMSC State Partnership nor BCM is liable for any damage or loss related to the accuracy, completeness or timeliness of any information contained in the PPR tool kit.
