Packet pick-up will take place Friday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Luke’s Locker. Luke’s Locker is located at 1953 W Gray St, Houston, TX 77019. Packets will also be available for pick-up on the day of the race at 7 a.m. at the TMC commons. However, we strongly encourage you to get your packets the day before for the sake of your convenience as well as ours!
We will also have a packet pick-up location within Baylor College of Medicine for employees and students, Thursday, Oct. 8. Packets will be available for pick-up from Noon to 3 p.m. in front of Morrison’s cafe.
Option 1: Park in the Texas Medical Center. We have been able to secure discounted parking prices for race participants this year. Instead of paying the normal hourly rate (which will come out to ~$12 if you stay for the duration of the race and post-race activities), you have the option of paying $6 for parking when you register online. Discounted parking will only be available through online registration. If you choose this option, make sure you bring us the yellow chip you obtain from the parking machines on race day so that we can validate your parking. The closest garages to the starting line are Garages 4, 6, 7 and The Commons Garage. Please see the official Texas Medical Center's Visitor Parking website for exact locations.
**Please note that participants who register on the day of the race will not be offered the discounted parking option.
Option 2: Alternative parking. If you wish to park for free, consider looking for spots at or near Hermann Park. You can then take a short walk or jog over to the medical center. Another option to consider would be the neighborhood streets around Rice University. However, keep in mind that some of these streets have no parking signs on them so just be careful!
Option 3: Metrorail. Take the Houston Metrorail to the Memorial Hermann Hospital/Houston Zoo station. Once you get off, if you look for Ross Sterling Avenue and head southeast you’ll find yourself at Baylor and right near the starting line.
Option 4: Walk/run/bike. As a race promoting wellness, we encourage you to walk, run, or bike if you live in the vicinity of the medical center.
Pre-Race and Gear Check
Check-in and pre-race activities will start at 7 a.m. in front of the McGovern Commons, which is located at 6550 Bertner Avenue, Houston, TX 77030. There you will be able to pick up race day packets as well as drop off personal items in a small plastic bag which will be provided in your packets. We will also have multiple computers set up for same-day registration. If you do end up registering the day of, please plan on showing up at 7:30 a.m. at the latest because the process does take a while.
The 5K race will occur shortly after the Fun Run. If your children ran the Fun Run and you plan on running the 5K, you will be able to drop them off after their run at a child care station led by our volunteers! Your children will be able to stay there for as long as you need to finish your race.
Here is this year's race route. For those who ran in the BCM Wellness 5K last year, note that we have slightly shifted the start and finish lines in accordance with official USATF measurements. Our USATF certification number is TX14100ETM. For more information about USATF certification, go to the New This Year tab.
