Powers appointed to hematology committee
Dr. Jacquelyn Powers, assistant professor of pediatrics - hematology, was appointed to a four-year term as member of the American Society of Hematology Committee on Quality. The ASH COQ is charged to promote the highest quality care of patients with hematologic diseases and is responsible for overseeing and implementing the ASH quality initiative.
Rosengart named to surgeon-scientist program
Dr. Todd K. Rosengart, chair of the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery, has been named to a new American College of Surgeons National Surgeon Scientist Program, and asked to serve as chair of its grant review committee for an upcoming $200,000 surgical oncology young investigator grant. This program is aiming to create a premiere developmental program for early investigator surgeon-scientists in the United States.
BCM partner school among healthiest schools
For the second year in a row, the Baylor College of Medicine Biotech Academy at Rusk has been named to the list of America's Healthiest Schools. This list recognizes more than 500 schools nationwide for their work prioritizing nutrition, physical activity and wellness. This year, Kohl's has additionally awarded Rusk with Family Engagement Distinction. Rusk is one of Baylor's partner schools with HISD.

The Feb. 23 Health Equity Grand Rounds offered by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion has been postponed.
DocTalk on heart & COVID
DocTalk addresses "Indirect Effects of the Pandemic on Your heart," with Dr. Salim Virani, professor of medicine - cardiology, Tuesday, Feb. 23, at noon. Attend by Zoom (Passcode: 983754). BCM BeWell Vitality points available. DocTalk is an informal series of lunchtime health talks by Baylor experts.
Webinar on sleep apnea treatment
Learn more about Inspire, an FDA-approved sleep apnea treatment that works in the body to treat the root cause of the condition, at an educational webinar by Zoom on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. The webinar will be presented by Dr. Andrew Huang, assistant professor of otolaryngology. Global health conference
The Houston Global Health Collaborative will host its annual conference virtually on Feb. 25 and March 4 and 11. The conference includes speakers from Baylor and other institutions addressing topics like COVID-19, immigrant health and more. Register online.

Virtual workshops on a variety of topics from investing basics to eliminating debt will be offered on Wednesday, Feb. 24, one of HR-Benefits Financial Wellness Days that will be held throughout the year.
