Possible Signs
Present about one to nine months or more after sex. Fatigue, loss of appetite, diarrhea, nausea, dark, foamy urine, pale bowel movements, abdominal pain, yellowing of skin, whites of eyes, joint pain. Symptoms may be mild or never appear, and may also be flu-like.
Possible Results
Lifelong infection. Possibly fatal liver problems, including cancer. Immune system problems.
Treatment
There is no cure for hepatitis B, but treatment can help. (Most recover. For some, symptoms may go away, but they can still infect others.)
