Professional Statement
Bridging the laboratory and clinic, Dr. Krance coordinates the activities of the pediatric bone marrow transplant programs. A major activity of this program focuses on the application of gene transfer to define discrete clinical endpoints in the application of bone marrow and stem cell transplantation. Using gene marking, it has been possible to follow individual cell populations. This application has demonstrated the capacity of harvested marrow to contribute to leukemia relapse and conversely to promote long term hematopoietic repopulation.Dr. Krance is also interested in the use of stem cell transplantation for the therapy of autoimmune disorders and is the principal investigator on a protocol for patients with multiple sclerosis.
