Jorge Portuondo, M.D., chief resident in general surgery, was honored by the Texas Surgical Society as a Raleigh R. Ross Scholar at the 2023 Texas Surgical Society Meeting.
Dr. Portuondo earned his medical degree at Florida International University. He will begin his fellowship in surgical oncology at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center next year.
Founded over 100 years ago, the Texas Surgical Society awards one resident from each program in Texas who exemplifies the ideals of the Texas Surgical Society—to stimulate and improve the science and art of surgery, and to elevate the standards of the practice of medicine.
