Dr. Ayse Leyla Mindikoglu, associate professor of surgery and medicine in the Section of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and the Division of Abdominal Transplantation at Baylor College of Medicine, has received funding from the Roderick D. MacDonald Research Fund for her project titled, “The Effect of Four-Week Intermittent Fasting from Dawn to Sunset on Leukocyte Proteome in Subjects with Metabolic Syndrome.” The committee thought the project represented a brilliant idea in a unique patient population and voted to approve it for $31,004. 

Dr. Mindikoglu is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology with over 14 years of experience in academic clinical practice. Her current research investigates the effect of intermittent fasting from dawn to sunset on human serum proteome and metabolism in healthy subjects and subjects with metabolic syndrome and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease.
