Off Script: Stories from the Heart of Medicine

Content

The world of medicine needs your story. Tell about a surprising diagnosis, clinical courage, an amazing recovery, or an (un)dignified death. Or something else. Any story that touches on some aspect of health, illness, disability, or caregiving is welcome.

Your tale can be true, fictional, or a mix of both. Pack your story with engaging characters, realistic dialogue, and vivid scenes. Give us tension and dramatic action! The setting could be a clinic, hospital, or somewhere far from health care. Please submit your story (600 – 900 words) by June 1.

If selected, we’ll invite you to read your story during a free one-hour storytelling event at Inprint House on June 27 at 5:30 p.m. Anyone can attend, and anyone can submit a story. If yours is accepted, you will join fellow storytellers on June 15 for a workshop led by an experienced writer.

Off Script is a community-oriented event. No healthcare affiliation required.

  • Submission deadline is Saturday, June 1, 2024.
  • Writing workshop for accepted stories is Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Inprint House.
  • The storytelling event will be held on Thursday, June 27 at 5:30 p.m. at The Inprint House. See a flyer for the event.
