About Us
Welcome! Our objective is to provide comprehensive education and training in a clinical environment that will prepare you for certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Radiological Physics and for a professional career in radiation oncology physics. We are a two-year training program applying for accreditation from Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs (CAMPEP) with the expectation to achieve accreditation prior to admitting our first residents in 2024.
Curriculum
The clinical curriculum is divided into rotations including:
- Orientation
- CT Simulation and Dosimetry Systems
- 3D Treatment Planning
- IMRT/VMAT Treatment Planning, Delivery and QA
- Brachytherapy
- Vacation/Sick Leave/Conferences
- IGRT and Imaging Registration
- SBRT and SRS
- Research Project or Catch-up
- Chart Check, and Special procedures (TBI, TSET and CSI)
- Shielding Design, Linac Commissioning, and TPS QA
Residents are also expected to attend and participate in patient chart rounds, selected departmental conferences, seminars, lectures, journal clubs and meetings that are relevant to their training.
Residency training will take place at the following BCM sites:
- Harris Health – Smith Clinic
- Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center
