Application Procedures

Content

All application materials must be submitted through the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Center's online application service.

To ensure that your application materials are shared with the appropriate supervisors of your track(s) of interest, it is very important that your cover letter states each track to which you are applying. Please specify this in the first paragraph of your cover letter and place the name of the track(s) in bold so that we may promptly share your application materials with relevant supervisors.

If you are interviewing for multiple tracks, we also ask that you specify your interview preferences in accordance with APPIC Match Policy 3d. Due to limited interview slots, at times we must make choices about where and with whom applicants can interview. We will use this information only for the scheduling of interviews and will not use it for any other purpose in the selection process.

Applications must be completed on or before Nov. 1 to be eligible for review. Completed applications will be administratively screened for eligibility before being reviewed by the training director and primary supervisor(s) for the track(s) to which you have applied. Candidates invited for an interview will be notified by email as soon as this process is accomplished. Interviews will also be scheduled by email. Please make sure that we have your correct email address to ensure a smooth interview notification and scheduling experience. Applicants will be notified by Dec. 14 if they are not being extended an interview.

Interview Procedures

Content

Interviews take place on Wednesdays and Fridays during the first two of weeks of January. A program overview is provided, followed by individual interviews with the training director and faculty affiliated with the relevant primary track(s). Applicants also have the opportunity to speak with current interns during lunch.

Our program supports and follows APPIC guidelines for intern selection. APPIC policy states that internship programs are prohibited from asking intern applicants, verbally or in writing, to rank their choice of internships, or to otherwise inquire about the intern's internship preference. We endorse this policy and endeavor to make application and selection procedures as open and comfortable as possible considering the intense nature of this important task. Please feel free to contact us at any time regarding our selection procedures.
